My cooking skills have officially improved from those of an American Bachelor to Japanese Bachelor! i.e. I made instant curry for dinner today:

I don’t think I made the dish particularly well but it was delicious to me! I am now soooo full of rice and curry!

Previously my weekend non-going-out-to-eat dinners were averaging out to peanut butter and jelly; fancier days would be Trader Joe’s frozen pizza, desperate times may or may not have involved peanut butter spooned from the jar then dipped in chocolate chips.

Th-those days are gone now though!! My goal is to cook a new dish each weekend with the coaching of my friends and coworkers Alpha and Andrew, both of whom cook far better than me. Stay tuned!

TIRES NEED AIR.

HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP it is SO MUCH EASIER TO BIKE with non-flat tires, which apparently I had been biking on for the past… since May. I didn’t know tires weren’t supposed to have a healthy squish to them?? Protip: there is no such thing as a healthy squish. OMG I can actually bike faster than joggers now, this is amazing.

Anyway ILU Recycled Cycles for changing my worldview on bicycling and also for being so kind to me despite my blatant bicycle retardation!! I will be going back!

ETA: OMG biking to/from work was a piece of cake! Seriously I am so excited, so so so excited to ride my bicycle now…! If only it weren’t like RIGHT AT THE END OF SUMMER, ugh why was I so retarded

Me and Meg just started playing tennis on Sundays! Today was our first time trying it and it was AWESOME! Meg hadn’t ever played tennis before, and she was doing so well! In a few weeks we will become the winningest team ever, pretty sure.

Our goal is to eventually play in a local tennis league. Looks like there are tennis ~flights~ through Seattle Parks & Recreation. Maybe we’ll register next season? Should be fun!

Also, couldn’t help but notice: Only 1/12 of the men’s tennis league play times are during normal work hours, while 14/21 of the women’s league play times are like in the middle of the day weekdays. How kind of Seattle to provide so many options to “suit [my] busy schedule” as an rich man’s tennis-playing housewife!!

Seriously the dumbest, most fail search algorithm I’ve ever seen on a website post 1998.

BTW, you might think that laughing at the 4th search result above is unfair – even though the editor is a completely different person, maybe one of the poets is a John Thompson. Let’s take a peek:

EFFFFFFFFF KIDS ARE SO LUCKY!!!

Exhibit 1, fierce dino costume:

I love how he’s just like “oh hayy”

Exhibit 2, adorable lil bee:

I can usually squeeze into large kids sizes, but these don’t come in large enough sizes :( why aren’t there kids plus sizes? We’re in America, dammit!

I could probably fit into a size 7-8 astronaut costume, but not nearly as fun as the two above! I might try anyway, that matching rocket bag is amazing /ponders

Oh and I’m POSITIVE I’ve ranted about this before last year on my blog, but ugh ~Womens~ costumes are the worst. Too many women use Halloween as an excuse to dress slutty! Ladies, let’s be real: you can dress in slutty bee-themed outfits any day; use Halloween to dress up accurately!

Chrome is seriously such an awesome place to be right now. Really high-profile, big crazy code base, hard and interesting problems, lots of code to write… I love it!

My first project was to write some stuff to improve <video> buffering, which is going to be released in version 6 (coming soon!). Current project is confidential! But I’m going to California next Wednesday thru Friday on a (first ever) business trip to chat with some folks about it and talk about the progress so far. So excited!!
